Life of Shaykh Hussain Ahmad Madani (RA) Part 4/6: Personal hardships

Shaykh Hussain رحمه اللّٰه endured great hardships in his personal life too. His wife passed away and he remarried. His new wife soon passed away and he remarried for a third time. She too, passed away. He grieved on three separate occasions, over the loss of his wives. Shaykhul Hadith, Muhammad Zakariyya Khandelwi رحمه اللّٰه was much younger than him, but they enjoyed a friendly relationship. He would sleep for an hour in his student days. After graduation, by day he would remain busy in the service of Deen and by night he would sleep for only two hours, opting to spend the rest of the night in worship. He would spend hours engaged in dua, crying profusely.

One day, Shaykh Zakariyya رحمه اللّٰه was with him while he performed Tahajjud Salah. After his dua, Shaykh Zakariyya رحمه اللّٰه made tea for them both. To lighten the moment, he whispered in his ear that I know your third wife passed away but don’t cry so much. You’ll get married again soon. This was also Sunnah. Nabi ﷺ would take a break from worship after Tahajjud Salah, by engaging in light-hearted conversations with his wife Aishah. Thereafter, Nabi ﷺ would perform Fajr Salah.
