It is extremely unfortunate that the Shias taunt and speak ill of none other than the noble companions of Nabi ﷺ. When we are unacquainted with who the Sahaaba (RA) are, we become confused and unsure of who to believe. Remember this one rule: Never speak ill of a Sahaabi (RA).
Nabi ﷺ said, “I wish I could meet my brothers.” The Sahaaba (RA) said, “Are we not your brothers?” Nabi ﷺ said, “You are my companions, but my brothers are those who have faith in me although they never saw me.” They said, “O Rasulullah ﷺ! How will you recognize those of your Ummah who are not born yet?” He ﷺ said, “They (my followers) will come with bright faces and white limbs because of Whudu, and I will arrive at the Haud (Al-Kawthar) ahead of them” (recorded in Sahih Muslim).
Despite having never met us, it was due to the concern of the Sahaaba (RA) that they asked Nabi ﷺ how to recognise us. With regards to themselves, Allah has declared that he is pleased with them in the Qur’an. They were already guaranteed Jannah. Yet they desired for us as Ummatis, to be noticed by Nabi ﷺ and to drink at the Haud. They enquired about us in our absence. At the very least, it is incumbent upon us to defend them in their absence. If we cannot do so verbally, at least remove yourself from places where blasphemous remarks are made.
This treatise is but a small glimpse of the noble life led by Muawiyah (RA). It is our duty to study the lives of the Sahaaba (RA) from authentic sources. If we do not, our ignorance gives misinformation a platform to spread and corrupt the Ummah. This is how deviant sects like the Shias have become widespread. They prey on the ignorant, exploit them and mislead them into believing lies in the name of religion. The simple solution is to educate ourselves. To learn with the intention of opposing the Shias, is a small reason in comparison to our need to love the Sahaaba (RA) and emulate them. We are forever indebted to their services. Thus, we must keep their example before us, remember them in our duas and regularly send Isaale thawaab. May we blessed to know them, live like them, die like them and be raised with them, aameen.
