Respond to the call of Allah

If the CEO of a company wishes to call someone to his office, he will often appoint a representative to make the call on his behalf. This representative may be his personal assistance, a colleague or even a friend. Regardless of who relays the message, the person being summoned will respond straight away. He will drop his work instantly, for the instruction to work came from his boss and now the instruction to leave it also came from him. Thus, he will swiftly comply.

Likewise, Allah has appointed a Muadhin to make the call for Salah. Regardless of who makes the call, respond immediately for the instruction has come directly from Allah. He has instructed us to work, earn, sleep and rest and we comply. But when the adhaan is called, the same Allah is now instructing us to leave it all and turn to Him. May Allah grant us the ability to respond to the call.

On the Day of Judgement, Salah will be the first deed Allah will judge us for. If there is any deficiency in the fardh Salah, Allah will ask the angels to check if we have any nafl Salaah, so that it may make up for the deficiency. If we pass in the field of Salah the rest of our deeds will be judged accordingly, allowing us to pass easily. However, if our Salah is not adequate, the rest of our deeds will be impacted.

It is the quality of our Salah today that shapes the success of our future tomorrow. Internalise this reality and establish Salah. Make it an unmissable feature of your daily life, as Salah is supposed to be. Thereafter, search for areas of improvement. Continuously seek to improve by lengthening your ruku, increasing the tasbeehaat, or finding ways to concentrate better. If this proves difficult, seek the guidance of scholars and the assistance of Allah. May Allah grant us the ability to do so and forgive us for our shortcomings, aameen.
